Kanchi Maha Periyavar
About Niketan

Jai Seetharam

With the Blessings of Kanchi Maha Periava Sri Chandrasekarendira Saraswati Swamigal, with the aim of co-existence and unity of all religions, Sri Srinivasa Niketnam was founded in 1975 by Bhagavan Srimad Seetharama Swamigal which institution is involved in many religious and charitable works ever since its inception.
All religions unanimously accept that this world and all things living in this world have been created by God. Taking this concept a little farther, we in our religion believe that
things living whether animate or inanimate, are actually manifestations of the one Almighty.
Due to the changing situations in the lifestyle over the ages, degeneration of culture and heritage is inevitable.
In such a situation, Sadhus and Mahatmas device and stress on Paths of life towards the divine, in various modes, which is called the religion.
India, the Gnanabhoomi, always has religion and religious service as its first priority. There have been, from the time immemorial, great souls who without losing their
enthusiasm even in a small measure, deeming service to God and to the devotees of God. Today people of Sri Srinivasa Niketanam, are one among those souls.According to the Gita, renunciation of the world is not what constitutes yoga; rather, according to the

desirable or attainable goals of all creations of God; if one were to live one’s life in a righteous manner, that alone constitutes karma yoga.
Acquiring of wealth, if thought to be a worldly duty, then giving away wealth in charity becomes a spiritual duty. Sri Srinivasa Niketanam stands as the forerunner, when it one’s life in a righteous manner, that alone constitutes karma yoga.

Acquiring of wealth, if thought to be a worldly duty, then giving away wealth in charity becomes a spiritual duty. Sri Srinivasa Niketanam stands as the forerunner, when it comes to practicing the spiritual tenets mentioned viz., giving in charity and living a principled life.
The goodness of the members of Sri Srinivasa Niketanam is that a large portion of the wealth earned by Niketan is spent in service to God and for Social Service.
Although we make a distinction between ‘Service to God’ and ‘Social Service’, and we do these separately, we are also aware that the fruits of all these services go to the same place, which are the people at large in the world. It is also the duty of every one of us to be a part of the good work or service.
Although we perform activities in the name of God like construction of community halls, performing kumbhishekams, performing festivals etc, whatever money spent in the construction of temple reach the hands of the laborers or working class, in other words the benefits reach only the people or the society. In the name of social service activities which are performed like building of educational institutions, doing annadanam (poor feeding), building of hospitals, assistance given to unmarried young girls,
assistance for performing funeral services and last rites, and such other services done directly to people are also services done directly to God. Sri Srinivasa Niketanam is an institution that recognizes and realizes the fact that such services done directly to people actually are done to the God who resides and is present in every human.
In order to continue these services for ever, for the creations of God, for our country in which we are born, for our language, for our relatives and for all our fellow humans, let us recall the words of the poet
Bharati as follows:
Let the wealthy give wealth;
Let those blessed with lesser wealth; give what is possible, though in small measure;
Those blessed with strength of the body, please help by doing physical service;
Those bereft of even this, please do help by spreading the message by the power of speech.

Realizing this, let everyone join hands by doing this social service with Sri Srinivasa Niketanam and for this purpose let us pray to Sri Maduravalli Thayar Sametha Sri Srinivasa Perumal and Sri Taara Mataa Sametha Sri Bhagawan Srimad Swami Seetharama Swamigal.

“My heart wells up in joy when I think of thy existence;
I get the wealth necessary to sustain my life, when I think of thy Grace;
When I listen to thy, I get solace,
When I Realize You in me, I become Brahmam”.
