Monthly Medical Camp

As wished and proposed by Bhagawan Sri Seetharama Swamigal & Tara Amma, Sri Srinivasa Niketanam (SSN) is conducting a Free Medical Camp every month at Thirumalaivaiyavoor (Near Vedanthangal), for Poor and Needy People.

1. When and where is the Medical Camp Conducted?
It is conducted on first Sunday of every month from 7 AM and goes on upto the noon. The first medical camp was inaugurated on 30th June, 1999, since then it is being conducted regularly.

 

2. What type of members do participate?
Eminent Doctors & para-Medical staff (From Chennai, Pondy, Chengalpet & Kanchi) of various fields such as Allopathic, Ayurvedic & Homeopathic actively take part in the camp. Besides the regular Doctors, a group of specialized ones also come in for the consultation and help in their further treatment, if required.

 

3. Who are the people getting benefited?
On an average of about 500 poor people (increasing every month) from 50 nearby villages in the neighborhood are benefiting from these medical- camps every month. Wide publicity is given to reach the villagers by distributing pamphlets and announcing the date of next medical camp in the Loud-Speakers 2 days in advance.

 

4. How are the Children taken Care?
Inoculation & Vaccination for Infants and Children are provided on the regular basis. Anti-Cholera and Polio inoculations for the children are also given by the Paramedical staff. Hepatitis B vaccine has been administered on a special occasion in the year 2002.

 

5. How are the Women folks given attentions?
Women and their kids are provided with vitamins, syrups and tonics, generously to counter malnutrition and resultant deficiencies. Women are also advised by the Doctors and Social workers about Hygiene and Sanitation and special care and nutrition for infants, children and sick members of their family.

 

6. How and What are the Eye Treatments provided?
Eye Check up for needy persons & Cataract Operations for the aged persons is performed free of cost in collaboration with Vivekananda Eye Hospital, Thrivannamalai.

 

7. In what way are the impaired persons helped?
Besides giving consultations and treatments, Sri Srinivasa Niketanam donates Artificial Limbs and wheel chairs for Disabled or specially abled persons.

 

8. What about the pharmacy?
A separate Pharmacy section is established. Free Medicines, Tonics are provided generously to the needy and also there are Injections provided when prescribed. Towards the purchase alone nearly Rs.25000 is spent every month.

 

9. When and Where is the Blood Donation Conducted?
Blood Donation is conducted at Pondicherry every year for 10 years hence with an average of 25 volunteers donating Blood.

 

10. Vhat are the other places, where SSN has conducted medical camps?
Eye camps also conducted at Leprosy Home at Paranur, a backward village in Chengalpet district. Clothes are also distributed to Leprosy patients during Deepavali Festival every year (400 people benefited this year).A special Free medical camp was conducted on 11.06.02 at Perayur (Madurai) and nearly 400 patients were benefited.

 

11. How are the patients given follow up every month?
From 63 rd Medical camp ID CARDS containing 12 monthly sheets are distributed to each and every patient and are requested to bring them along each time they visit the free medical camp. This is to ensure proper and required treatment is provided to them. This card serves as a record for the treatment given to the patients over a period of time.
Besides all the above PRASADAM is also provided in the morning to every patient visiting the Medical Camp.

The Monthly Free Medical camp is being a running success under the guidance His Holiness Swamigal and with about 25 Volunteers comprising of educated people and skilled nurses and pharmacists have been rendering services from the inception for good cause.
